Excellent food, great prices, awesome service. Surprise hidden gem in Baker City just south of I-84. My wife and I travel for a living and find it difficult to find healthy food out on the road. This place is a quick walk from a truck stop that has medium capacity parking, and there's parking at the restaurant if you're in something smaller. We ordered a Tangy Thai bowl and Pesto Bowl both with tofu. Food was fresh, veggies were perfectly tender-crisp, rice was well prepared and sauces were present without overwhelming. Our orders came out promptly at the same time and our drinks were kept refreshed. This establishment also features great espresso beverages, which was a huge bonus so we didn't have to endure the bitter Starbuck's brew around the corner. We walked out well fed with healthy food and great tasting coffee for less than 20 bucks. Definitely stop here when in Baker City.

Basic atmosphere with seating inside and attempt at a patio on the busy street with some protection from the traffic noise. But for what this is, it has to get 5 stars. The bowls were incredibly flavorful and filling, especially for the reasonable price. All of the help was very friendly too. Close access to freeway for those passing through.

Was passing through Baker on a trip and was pleasantly surprised by this gem! The combinations were creative, ingredients fresh and food delicious. I got the angry chicken salad and was very impressed, but couldn't come close to eating it all. Living and eating in San Francisco, I haven't encountered a menu like this before but think this concept would do well there. Service and pricing were also fantastic.

Delicious bowls and salads, quick service, healthy, good prices, and close to the highway! Great place to stop on a road trip.

So we were on a road trip and spotted Crave-a-Bowl and decided that it would be a great alternative to fast food. They were a few minilutes past their closing, but stayed open for us. We each had a bowl - both with chicken, one with rice one with noodles - and it was great. The sauces were tasty and the veggies crisp. The chicken was tender and cooked just right. At $9 a person, we were impressed that we were full before the bowl was empty. All in all a great alternative to fast food. Very friendly and helpful staff.

This was a welcome change from the usual fast food options on our cross country road trip. The food hit the spot, and as a bonus the outside seating is dog friendly. Just a hint: the large bowl was too much for lunch, I'd recommend the half bowl instead!

Nice quick health food. Gluten free and vegetarian options too. You will be pleasantly surprised.

Passing thru Baker City and saw the great reviews on Yelp but could not have been more disappointed in Crave-A-Bowl. My Teriyaki Rice Bowl had soggy rice, limp lettuce and carrots, soft mushy chicken, canned pineapple bits and bottled teriyaki sauce. Easily the worst teriyaki dish I have ever experienced, including those that came straight out of a microwave. Just terrible.
(1)Anna R.
Really delicious. We are so glad we stopped and we are excited to have a healthy option in Baker City enroute to Utah. We had the teriyaki and the basil bowls. Both were delicious and fresh.
(5)Ryan M.
The spicy peanut sauce, noodles, and chicken were excellent. The reason 3 stars instead of four was the foul fish smell in the dining area.
(3)David L.
My wife and I ordered the Thai Aki bowl, one with Jasmine Rice one and pork and one with Yakisoba noodles with chicken. They both came with Yakisoba Noodles and pork that was so dry it was inedible. The noodles were okay, a bit hot, but the entire experience was not worth it.

A fast, fresh, healthy, delicious, and cheap place very close to the highway. The half is pretty big, more than enough for a quick lunch.
(5)Terri M.
Stopped in baker for a quick bite and discovered this little gem thanks to yelp. I had the Thai bowl with brown rice and out was delicious! I am already craving the next time I can have it. The service was great and friendly. Would recommend.

Noodles suck. Broccoli is practically raw. Tofu tastes like it might make me sick. Sauce isn't the best. Meat is way overcooked. Maybe a sandwich would have been a better choice, in which case the name they call their establishment is all wrong. Bowls are no good. This was a to-go order I through away after two bites. Better luck in Boise...onward!

This place was an awesome find for two weary travels making our way across the us. We wanted a quick hot healthy meal and found it here! The bowls were delicious!

What an odd little hole in the wall restaurant. We stopped here on our way through Baker City in hopes of some fresh & healthy food for dinner. What we got was the opposite. I ordered the "Thai aki," a "balance" between their teriyaki sauce and "tangy" Thai sauce. Tangy is an interesting adjective to describe the flavor as I could taste nothing but spice. By the end of the dish, my lips were burning from the level of spiciness this dish possessed. We also got the hummus and pita appetizer which was dry and bland. Overall the food filled me up but it was not worth the money. I would not eat here again.
(2)Nicole M.
The food was okay but both the rice and the noodles had a bleach/chlorine taste to them. Very off putting. Grilled pork was delicious.
(2)Sarah L.
I had always enjoyed crave a bowl before the new ownership and now I hate to say it's not all that impressive. I had also always been impressed with the flaming salad when it was offered at the chameleon but again this time not so good. Maybe it was an off day, but I don't think I'll go back.
(2)Joseph E.
What a find! This is the only decent food on I-84 between Boise and Portland. Tasty, well-prepared, interesting and cheap. I ordered the spicy Thai bowl with pork, over brown rice (!) and a side salad. Everything was perfect. I will be back. Highly recommended!

Funky little Oregon hippy restaurant not far off the highway. I had the Thai bowl with chicken and brown rice. Servings are large, I ordered a half bowl that was not only filling but delicious. The vegetables in the bowl were good - I don't dislike broccoli but it isn't on my top five, but this was crunchy, fresh, broccoli that was cooked but not drowned in the sauce. Husband had a gyro - he said it was good, but not great. The meat was fine, but it wasn't outstanding and the seasoning wasn't amazing. Son ate a pretzel burger and said it was a-.o.k. There's a variety of items - sometimes you find a place that serves interesting healthy food and they act like cooking a hamburger would be blasphemy. Not only is the healthy stuff good, you can choose whether you'd like brown rice, white rice, noodles, beef, shrimp,, chicken - and they do still grill a great burger. Nice stop if you're traveling through.
(4)Eric B.
Great food! The perfect place to stop between Boise and Portland. We had extremely healthy (brown rice, cabbage, carrots, etc) thai rice bowls that were quite tasty - probably the best I've ever had. Service was good & quick.
(5)Stephanie C.
Just passing through Baker City and had the most delightful lunch at Crave-A-Bowl. The food was great and they even made my custom ordered hamburger with a lettuce wrap. We also had the Thai rice bowl which was amazing. But what makes the place even better was the exceptional service. Brian, the owner, was warm, personable and hard working, something you rarely find these days. Can't wait to pass through this town again. Be sure to ask about the owl decor.

I really enjoyed this little find in Baker's City. I had the Aki Thai bowl and it was really yummy. We also had a flatbread appetizer that was scrumptious. My husband got the southwest bowl that he enjoyed, getting the extra avocado was a good choice. The service was amazing, notably so. Others in our party did not enjoy their dishes as well, so it can be hit and miss. Next time I want to try the flatbread sandwiches. Skip the teriyaki.
(5)Phil D.
Awesome food! My kid had the Fettuccini chicken Alfredo and he said its so good its giving him goose bumps. I had the tangy Thai with tofu that was amazing. We came for dinner and with 7 of us the food came out quick and service was great. Will come again.
(5)Jessica W.
This place is really good and has great, affordable prices unlike most healthy option restraunts. I am from seattle and go to a lot of similiar restraunts like this and they charge almost triple! My family and me were traveling through on a roadtrip back to seattle, We stumbled upon this restraunt after being directed to Taco Time from a gas station. Glad we saw this & went here instead! The guy that was working was really nice as well! The food was sooo yummy!
(5)Babs J.
Yum! Wonderful find. Thanks, Yelpers! Very good and healthy food. We had a southwest bowl and a Greek flatbread. Both awesome. I wish I could take crave-a-bowl home with me. Close to 84, which is a bonus. We'll be back.

I'm really surprised by so many positive reviews! I've eaten at Crave-a-bowl twice now, and was extremely disappointed both times. My last visit was about 6 weeks ago (I'm just catching up on my Yelp reviews)! Without exaggeration, I sat in the drive-through for 45 minutes, and there was only one car ahead of me! When I finally placed my order, I had to make a second choice because they were all out of chicken. My meal wasn't horrible, but it was absolutely nothing special, and somewhat overpriced, relative to quality. I really wanted to like this place because I don't eat fast food, but a drive-through is very convenient when I'm driving with my baby in the car. Two thumbs down.

Good food that is change of pace from most places in the area. I enjoyed the Thai Ari bowl with noodles. Even the grilled cheese sandwich my husband had look great. Small but fun.

We came with a big group, so had lots of opportunity to try different foods. Here's the run down. Thai Aki - This was fabulous. Chicken Alfredo - Good! My brother ate rest of my sister's alfredo after he gave me his teriyaki bowl. Flatbread appetizer with the tzatziki sauce - It was FABULOUS. Highly recommend it. Side salads were very well-priced and tasty. Really good dressings. Southwestern Bowl - I did not like this. I only ate half of it. Then I ate the rest of my brother's teriyaki bowl, which he didn't like. I put some spicy peanut dressing on it from my side salad, which improved it considerably. Teriyaki Bowl - As good as you can expect with canned ingredients. The food seemed to be a little hit and miss. I wish we would have asked for recommendations. After we left my sister told me their turkey bacon avacado sandwich and pesto flat bread sandwich were really amazing. I think if you follow the recommendations, it is DEFINITELY worth a stop. Finally, the SERVICE was top of the line. You can't find better service anywhere. We had a baby with us, and the waiter was very patient with her messy eating and offered her avacados and mandarin oranges. He was attentive, patient and kind. I didn't give 5 stars because we got multiple items that we did not like. BUT I would eat here again. I would stick to the recommendations. The service alone is worth a second trip.

I saw the great reviews on Yelp, so decided to give this place a try. I should have read the reviews more carefully, and ordered the Thai Aki bowl that many Yelpers raved about. Instead, I got a large pesto bowl with sirloin. The large was huge! I liked the veggies in the bowl, but almost wish I had ordered it without noodles. The noodles just overwhelmed the dish, and without much pesto sauce, it just tasted like a bowl of carbs. But, I picked the veggies and sirloin out of the bowl - and left satisfied.

I'm obsessed with yakisoba noodles, these didn't quite measure up to my expectations. I would have liked more meat (less done) more veggies (more done) and less noodles in the dish; also I feel like they were pretty stingy with the avocado slices. Great service though and I'll definitely visit again!

Stopped by on the way to Seattle. It was a good change up to fast food!. Go with small, large is big!

This is the bomb!!!! We stopped on a road trip and absolutely loved it! It was healthy, quick and clean. The Tangy Thai got two thumbs up from everyone in our group. Too bad this place isn't closer to home!!

We first tried lunch at Porchibee's early last year and we've been hooked ever since! This is not your everyday rice bowl joint. You pretty much get to have your rice bowl any way you want it...your choice of meats (pork, chicken or beef -- hence the name) or vegetarian; white or brown rice and a selection of sauces ranging from traditional teriyaki to some serious Thai spicy and flavorful deliciousness. All served with the perfect blend of hand prep'd veggies, you can also "go large" for even more of a delicious thing! Not in to rice bowls? Then try one of their burgers served on an artisanal roll and cooked to order. My favorite (not on the menu but the guys will always take special orders) is a mushroom burger with teriyaki sauce. Your taste buds will be doing their own little happy dance! Rice bowls not your thing? Do yourself a favor and stop in and try one...you won't regret it. The best sauces (all made fresh everyday) and fresh ingredients and friendly service make for an overall great dining experience. And don't let the location fool you. It's small in size but the guys at Porchibee's deliver BIG on flavor and service. We look forward to our visits back to Baker City each month because we know we'll enjoy some really good food and friends at Porchibee's. Make Porchibee's a "must try" and you won't regret it.

Exactly what we needed on our long drive from Michigan to Seattle. Just as the other reviews say this was the best fast, fresh, and healthy food in between boise and Portland. The owner was very friendly and I would definitely suggest stopping at this trendy, unique eatery!
(5)Lisa R.
We found Crave-a-Bowl a block from our motel in Baker City. What a pleasant surprise to find a selection of vegetarian and vegan possibilities. I had the Tangy Thai bowl with brown rice and tofu and it was great. My husband enjoyed the Thai Aki bowl with noodles and tofu. We also split a deliciously fresh dinner salad. All this for under $20. It's rare to find a place like this when you're on the road. How lucky for Baker residents to have it all the time.
(5)Megan F.
Food was really good! So nice to have an affordable healthy option on our way through town. It didn't come out very quickly but it was worth the stop. I will go again.
(5)Jeff P.
I went their with my family after visiting the Oregon Trail museum. I got the Thai bowl and it was delicious! However, my kids teriyaki bowls were not edible because they put way too much sauce on them. And, the service was horrible -- it took almost 40 minutes to get our food during lunchtime. What are they thinking? It appeared they were giving priority to the drive through line while giving the shaft to the people inside the restaurant. So, five stars for my meal combined with one star for my kids and one star for the service balances out to a 3-star rating.

This place has really tasty food (I had the Chicken Teriyaki), and a genuinely friendly staff. It was a very enjoyable dinner stop for a tired visitor on his way to Boise.

A hidden gem - thanks to Yelp, we found this great place. Varied menu, freshly made, flavorful food and very friendly staff. I had the Thai-yaki bowl with tofu - and believe me, I was amazed to find tofu as a choice in carnivorous Eastern Oregon, and was even more amazed to find it well-prepared. It had just the right amount of spice and sweet, and the portion was very generous. The sweet tea was clearly freshly brewed with just the right amount of sweetness. My co-worker had the gyro - he confirmed it was terrific- perfectly cooked meat with snapping fresh veggies with tzatziki that was delectable. I'm told Crave-a-Bowl makes great burgers too - and if the bowls and gyros are any indication I'm sure that's the truth. Don't miss this great, locally-owned place!

Just like everyone here has listed, this spot is great for the drive from Portland to Boise. We were particularly impressed with the service. The food was impressive as well. The menu touches on something for everybody. We all ended up getting bowls. The yakisoba noodles looked great. I got the Thai-yaki bowl with brown rice and chicken breast. It was fresh and tasty and the portion sizes were quite large. Only get the full if you are quite hungry. 5.95 for a half bowl and 7.95 for a full. We never would have found this spot if it wasn't for yelp! We all agreed that we would highly recommend this spot to others.

An Oasis of healthy eats in between Boise and Seattle/Portland. Well worth a stop next time you are passing through and want some organic or healthy type food...I'm sure they could accommodate paleos too!
(5)Robyn D.
The food here is fresh and healthy - fresh vegetables, tasty sauces, and brown rice! It's a great alternative to the heavy on the fat down-home cookin' type of restaurant in Baker City. The service is also great - and the mini desserts are awesome!
